Lore

Religion

Ferrumaas have a polytheistic religion. Not only do they worship a pantheon of gods that rule over nature and crafting, they also give thanks and praise to their ancestors. They believe that, when a Ferrumaa dies, they join the gods to help them watch over individuals and gain the ability to help or hurt their descendants. By showing the gods devotion, Religious Ferrumaas believe they can prevent/lessen grand disasters, and by worshipping their ancestors, they believe their individual lives will be better.

These are the main gods of their religion:

Nm’Balla - The Great Parent of the Universe. No gender; both the Father and the Mother. Also rules over death.

Jo’cobii - The God of the Sky. He controls all weather-including rain-and the Sun and Moon Cycle.

Me’lah - The Goddess of the Earth. She protects the planet they live on and creates the land and its minerals, trees, and animals. She also guides the oceans and streams once Jo’cobii’s rain reaches her domain.

Sh’dammi - The God of Life. He works closely with Me’lah, helping plants and animals grow and survive. He also aids Ferrumaas with fertility, pregnancy, and birth.

No’bou - The Goddess of Crafting. She is the muse for Ferrumaa artisans and is believed to be the mother of creativity. All artistic ideas-music, art, sculptures, writing, poerty, etc.-is attributed to her.

Ki’ibah - The God of Metalworking. He helps Me’lah create metal and ore and aids No’bou in creating crafting techniques related to/using metal. He is believed to be the one who gave the Ferrumaas the ability to sense metal and taught them how to work with it.

Naming Structure

Ferrumaa names are frequently structured like this:

Two letters ‘ Anything

Some examples include: Ch’oloa, Ma’kael, Th’ba, Jo’nabbi, etc.

The reason Ferrumaas typically name their children with this format is because that is the way their ancestors and deities structured their names. They honor these revered figures by keeping their naming structure alive.

However, as with every species, there are Ferrumaas who are deviant, have different views on reverence, are not religious, etc. These specific Ferrumaas choose to name their children whatever they want to, regardless of structure or meaning.
